Condolences of Sympathy - VT

With all the gore and chaos created by one, and flamed by the media in hopes of sensationalizing the horror for ratings this verse from El Laberinto del fauno, Pan's Labyrinth, has come to mind. The quote below is taken from the scene after Ofelia's mother dies and the priest gives the eulogy at the grave.

"The essence of [God's] forgiveness lies in His word and in His mystery. Because although God sends us the message, it is our task to decipher it. Because when we open our arms, the earth takes in only a hollow and senseless shell. Far away now is the soul in its eternal glory. Because it is in pain that we find the meaning of life and the state of grace that we lose when we are born.

Because God in His infinite wisdom puts the solution in our hands. And because it is only in the absence of His physical presence that the place He occupies in our souls is reaffirmed."

I may never truly understand, and in many ways I never really want to, all I can do is wish for a quick healing for the wounded, and peace for all those touched by the abyss.

Below is a link I found a while back one that matches the traditions of the past with the technology of today. Yeah it's a virtual flame, but it still seems oddly comforting - -
