Stasis Comfort

I think it's the bleach /cough... with every breath I take it still smells like I'm at some indoor swimming pool. Not that I hate the pool, more rather I just don't like cleaning the shower/tub in the bathroom. The most success seems to come from using a bottle of cleaner then letting it soak *note to self: next house should if possible have a vent window in the bathrooms, those little vent fans don't really do much*

May have found a buyer for the house... still in a wait and see state of mind. It sounds good, but I've learned not to get my hopes up nothing bruises the ego like failing your, Star Trek Federation Luck Roll. However if this is successful I'll be able to find someplace that doesn't quite echo like this one does.

Job performance reviews are done for this year /cheers. It seems like every other year for the past while there is a shake up in supervisory positions at work which can make it hard to gain traction at times in accomplishing much in the trenches. I have some higher hopes this time though with this round - now we continue on and see what happens next.

With WoW coming out soon with a new expansion (12/07) I've been feeling a bit of a tug to reactivate my account... I'm guessing this is what it feels like to other addicts after a long hiatus from their drug of choice, to suddenly have a desire to go back and get another fix. I wonder if Blizzard realizes this release is on Pearl Harbor Day? You know that one day that will "live in infamy"-FDR.

To say I'm not seriously considering reactivating my account would be a lie. To wander a old/new world, exploring new places, seek out corners undiscovered does have some appeal, even if they are virtual... not like I'm using this life for anything else at the moment *and yes, even as I type these words out I realize how sad that sounds.*

I'm also waiting to see what will happen with DIII. Since the release of their latest class/character trailer the idea of waiting for a single player game vs. entry into an MMO subscription setup may help in making a decision.

Of course there is always the possibility of life taking another turn, until it does though I will make stasis a comfortable as possible :P A parting shot though paraphrased from a candy wrapper with quotes printed on it: "Pessimism is just Optimism with life experience."

Well I'm off for now, enjoy the vid, while ponder those final words -
"you have a choice to be hunted or hunter."

Occupational Hazzards

Every occupation has some of it... either via the direct need to provide customer service for those that need access or use to those things offered at work, or the politics sometime used to survive the workplace its' self. I guess that's why I've enjoyed Retail so much over the years.

Anyway this video reminds me quite a bit of daily customer service at times - especially during the start up of those stressful times. Like the holidays or the start up of a new school year when parents sigh with relief and teachers shudder in expectation as to what is yet to come. . .

Better Brain Hacking

It's hard to say, but Inception may be one of the best brain hacks I've seen in ages.

I was going to wait until it came out on DVD, but this is one of those movies that I was glad I didn't wait to catch on it's second release.

We enter the movie experience to explore a new world of the director's creation. It's been so long, and feels so good to have a movie experience that I didn't have to turn my brain off to enjoy. Watching just about any movie requires the viewer to suspend their belief in what is real. . . Mystery Science Theater makes good use of this. Inviting one to mock and enjoy those movies that for one reason or another are flawed in their illusion.

Even with a fairly linear story however one must keep their wits about them or be lost in the telling. As with every step further in the world created by Christopher Nolan becomes more complex asking you to go further down the rabbit hole or fall into limbo.

4 8 15 16 23 42

Okay I had to watch the Lost finally twice before making this post. As always there is much that could be debated and theorized which may make for interesting posts later.

WARNING: possible Spoilers ahead

Using meetings between characters with strong connections to trigger memories then creating a montage of images flashing through key events from their island life was a nice way to do a flashback without being overly blatant about it. Allowing for those watching to glimpse and remember just how much these characters have gone through in the past few years in a strange way added to the felling of closure in the final episode.

I could of used a bit more epilogue though as to what happened to those who did make it off before our final stop in the chapel. And to say I'm not curious about the first few adventures of Hugo and Ben would be a lie, however I have placed those flights of fancy in the back of my mind with Calvin and Hobbes.

For now though know that this has been a six season Twilight Zone - a well done one at that. If this statement seems a bit off just visualized Rod Serling or Nestor Carbonell (who played Ricard Alpert) providing some ending dialogue about life lessons learned by those Lost in the Twilight Zone.

Blurblings of 'Lock Remembered

A while back I posted a vid made by those great folks at Looking for Group: now in the spirit of darkness and mayhem a new star has formed and thought you might like a twisted look and just how well our little princess can play the dark lord. :P

4 Years?!?!

On a different note, I taking a moment while WoW installs on yet another computer, hard to believe the first EULA was way back in 2004. . . Has it really been that long?

Courts, Divorces, and Assasinations

Have yet to find a satisfying answer to my age old question. You know that whole how much damage do you let one cause in hopes that they get a clue bit. I've seen instructors use it to their students disadvantage (finally guilting them into submission.)

In some ROI scenario situations assassination is looking better and better.

Just One Screw (get yer mind out o' the gutter!!)

I'm still finding stuff that truly amazes me about the competence of the builder that built my current abode. The door between the house and garage has become VERY loose recently, with the kids slamming doors and such (many times I don't think gentle is in their nature unless it bites back). It was one of my goals to get it fixed, I was thinking nails, dad screws.

He won, and well in the repair process found that the door was only being held there by one screw. YiKeS!! Now it's more like 3 :P

New Box

I won the roll of the fates I guess. Our office only got one new computer this year, and I was the lucky winner - well worth a Saturday at the office to set up and get all those little bits of code on that I enjoy so much. A special thanks to the boss man who passed it on, I've seen a lot of managers take the good stuff for no other reason than they feel entitled to it. (Hence I really wasn't expecting this one.)

Blog Vids

I figured as I type these assault of the blurblings up I'd listen/look at some of the previous vids and see if they were all still up. So far I only need to track down one new link, but the list is yet a bit long to rule any true successes out. Either way it's kind of reminiscent. Wish I could get them to just run through as a play list.

Draw of the Crowd

Currently the crowds are about the only really good reason I have for not going to the theater and seeing Batman - - which I have to admit is VERY tempting right now - maybe after I get this PC built.

Someone in the office suggested a few of us go to the county fair this year (i think it will be here in a month or so) - - I politely begged off that is one crowded set of humanity I just don't have a desire to get lost in. I think short of kidnapping that is one entry gate I won't be looking at closely for many years to come.

Lost and Found

Earlier I shot a blurb about the debate on being discovered via myspace or facebook and at this point I'm passing. Let the world be discovered. For now if I'm meant to be found they can do it right here.

Went Fishing So Now What?

I'm so glad that WoW released the new trees planned for the pally and hunter in the next expansion. As is I'm finding it hard to keep focus. I'm not a raider, nor a PVP grinder so my options are becoming very limited, and fishing well - it's just not keeping my intrest too well.

Lost Soul

An old high school buddy gave me a call recently about doing some RPG, old style paper version, recently. Should be interesting. I've sent the base info to them to see if I've got the character creation stuff done right, and had fun writing a back story for them - maybe I'll post it here.

Should be fun, as I've designed this character to be a little "sanity challenged" to say the least. Time to let someone else be the strait man to the comedy.

Ash Like Snow

Okay it's a little cheezy on the video side, but try as I might the current selection isn't all that great, and all I can ask is that you forget the sniper pandas and enjoy the music :P

found a site for translation though like all off site links I can never promise how long it will be good for. . . "Ash Like Snow" by The Brilliant Green

Closed Eyes for the Pumpkin King

Life has really been sapping my strength this past week, but every now and then I either stumble on to an old gem or find a new one.

Its one of the few times when I can say there are some times when I'm grateful for history repeating itself -- the below video is one of the best movie/music jobs I've seen in a long time. I bumped into it a while a go at two different times, but for some reason it would get yanked (i think that's why the sound quality is beginning to suffer) - -

either way enjoy, and if for some reason you missed it -- who knows maybe it will surface again :)

Wi-Fi Fun and Up Comming Addictions

Okay it took me a little longer to get there, but now that it's all set up I'm loving this little Wi-Fi network here at home. Just the freedom of movement when listening to Pandora is enough to make the investment worth it.

For the past few years I've wanted to figure out a way to create a mini mp3 station here in the house but this is good for now and will allow the hardware costs to drop a bit more before I jump any further down this particular rabbit hole :)

I have yet to try WoW on it, but then I can tell that my little laptop would need a serious upgrade to keep up with those graphics. . .

Highspeed 24

While troubleshooting a video streaming call for one of our folks where I work I found this nice little link for catching up/ watching 24 on line.

So for those addicts of 24 like my dad - here's a way to catch up on the current season if you missed one due to out side forces beyond your control :)

There's a set of links on the page for watching a few of the other addicting shows out on FOX that you might have missed out on due to the current power struggle between FOX/Dish and Time Warner.

MixedLinks

Just a quick note - added a couple of links to the side.

The first is Sushicam.com - there is a lot of stuff here with mulitple authors, and for those who know me and my love of the asian culture it definately deserves a look. If you just like pictures you'll definately want to check out the picture of the day :) may have to add that one as a link of it's own later.

The second is another Streaming Audio site - I orginally found StreamingSoundtracks.com on 365live.com they have since split-off and moved on. To listen odds are you'll need Orban aacPlus plug-in, but so far it has been well worth the install.

New Links for an Old Blog

A quick thanks to Mr. the Tiger for telling me about 365live it's one massive steaming audio site that seems to have just about everything I search for and is not just limited to English radio stations.

Another thanks to Andrew at 4th Avenue Blues for the link to The Therapist Mumbles

And finally to Ctrl+Alt+Del for the link to LFG Comic. (Seems like the older I get the darker my sense of humor becomes - and although I may not be as naive on a PVP realm when playing WoW I'd rather have the power to end the fight someone else picked with me than to pick the fight in the first place.)

Pandora

Thanks to Bogomip for the link - this site is actually quite impressive - the only catch I've found so far is in finding some of the more eclectic tastes of the world that I've come to enjoy. (Some Japanese Rock, Scottish Folk, and Classical names like Mozart seem to be missing. )

Even though it may be limited the songs that are available are fairly high quality and the features list on the player seem fairly intuitive. Not to mention the selection it does come up with a fairly nice selection of variations on a theme based on the single name you put in at the beginning to create individual 'stations'.

Pandora's definitely worth a link on the side and maybe an account.
